Success for indie games falls into two categories:
- Personal success
- Sacrifice
For the first part I think success right now is the following:
- DONE: Releasing the game on steam.
- TODO: Make the CRG better, and work though the road map for features and content.
- TODO: Learn more code and skills to develop the other game ideas.
For the second part, the sacrifices for this indie journey have been:
- Time
- Money
- Weekends
- Late nights
- Free time
- Stress of unknown
- The process of learning is by failing and that is hard
What really stands out is that success takes time. This CRG game has been two years, learning to code has been 13 years, and only now did I have the income to spend money on the project.
Its much more of a daily progress thing than a overnight success. Its a matter of when, and keeping the process positive to a learning journey and not a set endpoint, is probably the best way to move forward.
